AFP ICON 2021 FAQs

Will the event be in-person, virtual, or both?

Both. AFP ICON 2021 will be offered virtually no matter what. We’re working hard and fully planning a robust in-person experience, but our number one concern is your safety. If we don’t believe we can hold a safe and comfortable AFP ICON, we will focus solely on the virtual experience. Whether you register for the in-person or the virtual experience, you are able to switch your registration to the other by April 26 (partial refund or additional charge may apply).

Is there a price difference between in-person and virtual experiences?

There is a price difference between the options. (You can see the different price points in the Registration section of afpicon.com.) The in-person event includes the virtual experience, with the virtual-only experience offered at a lower price. Whether you register for the in-person or the virtual experience, you are able to switch your registration to the other by April 26 (partial refund or additional charge may apply).

If I switch from in-person to virtual registration, or vice versa, will I be refunded (or charged) the difference?

Yes, if you request a transfer by April 26, you will be refunded or charged the difference in registration cost. The difference will be based on the registration rates at the time of original registration. For example, if you register for the in-person experience during the Early Bird Registration period and later, during the Regular Registration period, decide to switch to virtual, you will be refunded the difference between Early Bird in-person registration and Early Bird virtual registration.

What will the in-person experience be like?

We are working to create a robust in-person AFP ICON experience, while focusing on safety is our number one priority. We are following all necessary safety protocols in our planning processes, and will continue to do so all the way through the event.

What is the refund policy for the event?

All conference registration cancellations and refund requests must be submitted in writing to customer service by April 26, 2021. A refund of conference fees paid, minus a $100 administrative fee ($50 if cancelling a pre-conference workshop only), will be given for cancellations received or postmarked by this date. No refunds will be granted for requests received or postmarked after this date. No refunds will be granted for no-shows. All requests for exceptions to the cancellation/refund policy must be submitted in writing to customer service by the registrant with appropriate documentation no more than seven (7) calendar days following the conference. After that time, no refund considerations will be made.

Individual registrants who registered as part of a discounted group registration are not eligible for refunds, unless the entire group cancels. Registrations may be transferred to another person from the same organization by submitting a written request to customer service by April 26, 2021.

Transfers of registrations and tickets will be gladly accommodated prior to the conference by submitting a written request to customer service by April 26, 2021. Only one transfer/substitution is permitted per original registrant. The individual submitting the substitution request is responsible for financial obligations, including any balance due, associated with that substitution. Badge sharing or splitting is strictly prohibited.

What happens if the in-person event is cancelled?

If we don’t believe we can hold a safe and comfortable AFP ICON, or if we are forced to cancel the event, we will focus solely on the virtual experience. In that scenario, we will provide you with options for transferring or refunding your registration. We will maintain open communication throughout the open registration period and through the event dates.

Are hotels in Minneapolis open right now, and can I add a hotel room later? What’s the refund policy for that?

Yes, hotels are open and an individual can add a hotel room to their registration either now or at a later date if they choose. Cancellation policies vary between hotels, please contact the hotel for more information.
